Foster Care Week

Foster care week is about acknowledging and celebrating all that our kind carers do to keep children safe in our community. This week is Foster Care Week and we want to let you know what a great job you are all doing.

We never would have anticipated a pandemic, let alone a pandemic that has lasted as long as this one has. For most of the year our VIC & NSW carers have known few more than four walls, and seen little more than their household members. These carers have known many specialties, namely chefs, cleaners, teachers and coaches, on top of their many other daily parenting activities.

I guess what we are trying to say is, you are nothing short of impressive. We salute you. You’ve remained agile and committed through this year of unknown, and continue to remain resilient with nothing but a smile on your face (and maybe a few hidden tears). You are the greatest role model a child will ever know. You are the greatest role model we’ll ever know. This week we formally recognise the selfless acts you’ve taken to become a foster carer. You are helping children that would have otherwise been in less favourable circumstances, to have an education, a role model, a family.

The time, patience, effort, home and love you give these children will never go unnoticed. Thank you for always putting your best foot forward and creating a brighter future for vulnerable children. Thank you for being the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for your support, kindness and generosity. Thank you for being you!
