Rachael understands that some children are unfortunately dealt a more difficult start to life than others.

After completing what she described to be an eye-opening training course in 2010, Rachael became a foster carer for Key Assets.

She began her fostering journey as a respite carer, providing care to children on the weekends where she could simply have fun with them and allow them to feel like kids again.

From her experience she has understood how much of a positive impact she has had on their lives. Some children message her years later, thanking her for the time she spent with them.

During her time fostering, she has always valued the Key Assets support group meetings where carers could discuss problems, offer advice and support each other through their individual journeys.

The ongoing training and Key Assets therapist contacts were also a beneficial way to arm her with the tools and knowledge she needed in order to be an unwavering source of love and stability for her foster children.

“There are hard days and there are good days…but seeing that child smiling on the playground is all the heart warmth you need to know that what you are doing is making a difference.”

At Key Assets, our mission is to match foster children with their perfect carer so that they can feel safe and supported.  Make a difference to a child’s life today. Check your eligibility to foster here

From the moment Melinda first met her foster daughter, she knew her life was about to change for the better. Fully equipped with the Key Assets educational training, Melinda knew that for children who have experienced trauma at home, it is important to be patient and believe in them until they can believe in themselves.

Melinda’s foster child has a twin brother who at the time was with another foster placement. After a couple of years, his placement became unsettled and there was an opportunity for Melinda to bring the siblings together again.

Appreciative of the ability to make phone calls to Key Assets when in need of assistance, Melinda has been able to provide the most supportive, loving home to her foster children, and give them a chance to experience a normal family life.

“If you believe you can help a child flourish, just go for it.”

At Key Assets, we work to provide the best possible care for foster children because we believe every child deserves the opportunity to feel unconditionally supported throughout their lives.

Rob & Cathy

Rob and Cathy are no strangers to the fostering system. Of their 23 years of marriage, they have been fostering for 14. Over their entire fostering journey they have housed, supported and loved 37 foster children in total.

They are a testament to successful foster journeys everywhere, having raised 2 children of their own, and continuing to foster to this day.

They understand the complexities of providing a supportive home environment for multiple foster children, all of whom have different therapeutic needs.

They have gained the invaluable experience of watching all their children either grow up before their eyes or return safely to their birth families.

They have truly appreciated the assistance of the Key Assets team and have learnt that whilst there may be new challenges every day when fostering children, if you have a proper support network, you’ll always feel safe to tackle those challenges head on.

“If you think you can do it, do it, because it will change your life for the better.”

At Key Assets, it doesn’t matter what your background is, whether you are in a relationship or whether you do or don’t have children of your own. We are seeking carers from all walks of life who are committed to opening their hearts and homes to a child in need.
