Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day 2022
Every child is born into a story. That story comes from their family's history and ancestral connections.
My Dreaming, My Future
This years National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day theme is 'My Dreaming, My Future'
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are born into their family, culture, and Country. They carry the songlines that have been passed down through generations. While their Dreaming is a part of our history, they are free to design their own futures.
We are asking our children what dreaming means to them on this Children's Day, finding out how they interpret this in their lives and identities, and learning about their future goals.
We hope you all enjoy this week and celebrate a day where our children can feel proud knowing they have a strong rich traditional heritage and come from the oldest living culture in the world.
"My Dreaming, My Future - means to me a sense of belonging and knowing who I am culturally.
My Future looks promising, for my future Generation through Education, music and dance being accepted culturally and respected." Beryl Wilson- Cultural Practice Lead Victoria
