KAA support of the Uluru Statement from the Heart

Key Assets Australia acknowledges all the traditional custodians of the lands on which we live and work across Australia. We pay respects to all Elders past and present.

In May 2017, over 250 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander delegates gathered in Mutitjulu in the shadow of Uluru. They signed an historical statement: The Uluru Statement from the Heart. This statement, addressed to the Australian people, invited the nation to create a better future by proposing key reforms. The statement aims to achieve three key reforms – Voice, Treaty, and Truth-telling in that order.

Key Assets Australia fully supports the Uluru Statement from the Heart and recognises the importance of reconciliation with First Nations peoples in Australia. We acknowledge the wrongs and injustices that have been done in the past and present and commit to working together towards reconciliation. We have placed this statement in all of our offices and support the principles provided in this statement.

Key Assets Australia commits to prioritising First Nations people’s perspectives on cultural issues – including listening to, learning from, and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, Carers, staff, and communities. We employ First Nations staff, including Cultural Practice Leads to support the work we are doing. We are actively involved in local communities across Australia, by delivering and supporting culturally appropriate services.

The Uluru statement speaks to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children being ‘aliened from their family at unprecedented rates’ and in our work with families and children we have made an ongoing commitment to repairing the impacts of this devastating multi-generational trauma and the effects of the ongoing stolen generation.

Key Assets Australia is committed to ensuring that the supports we deliver are deeply connected to local communities and provide positive impacts. We partner with a range of services, including Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations to provide this support in culturally appropriate ways.

Key Assets Australia acknowledges that there are a variety of views and perspectives from all Australians regarding the upcoming referendum on the proposed Voice to Parliament on 14 October 2023. We understand and recognise the complexity associated with this important decision for Australians. Key Assets Australia recognises the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s right to choose and be actively engaged in the decisions that affect them. We at Key Assets Australia embrace this statement to promote justice, reconciliation, and empowerment for First Nations communities. Together, we can work towards a more inclusive and equitable future.
