Key Assets Australia services for children and families on Norfolk Island continue
NI-Connect Child and Family Wellbeing Unit secures extension to 2026, continuing vital child and family support services on Norfolk Island.
Key Assets Australia, through the NI-Connect Child and Family Wellbeing Unit, will continue to lead and deliver child and family wellbeing services on Norfolk Island, giving continuity and stability in this critical area, following the recent contract extension to 30 June 2026 with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, Sport and the Arts.
The extension ensures that children, young people and their families continue to have access to a wide range of support services. They include community education, programs for children and young people and parenting support to encourage local young people and families to reach their potential and promote safety in the community.
Alongside these programs, NI-Connect plays a vital role in supporting families within the community through child safety initiatives, mediation services, carer support, and out-of-home care placements, while also contributing to broader community development efforts. The service also partners with local organisations and agencies, such as Norfolk Island Health and Residential Aged Care Services (NIHRACS), Norfolk Island Central School (NICS), Norfolk Island Regional Council (NIRC), police and government representatives to deliver a coordinated approach.
On receiving the contract extension, James Isles, NSW and Norfolk Island Director and Child Welfare Officer shared,
“Our team has built a connection with the Norfolk Island community, and we see the difference that early support can make. Seeing the positive impact on children and young people is what drives our team every day.”
The extended contract reflects a commitment to ensuring Norfolk Island has access to child and family services, comparable to those available on the mainland while remaining tailored to the unique needs of the island community.
The NI-Connect team sincerely thanks the Norfolk Island community for its ongoing support. The contract will allow Key Assets Australia to keep building and improving services for families, helping ensure children, young people and families have the support they need.
