National Families Week

Families play a vital role in our communities

Family means different things to all of us, but no matter what, above all else, family gives us a sense of belonging, connection, and community. - Dianne Jackson, CEO Key Assets Australia

It's that time of year again, when we celebrate National Families Week from May 15th to 21st, honouring the 20th year of recognising the value of families. Over 100,000 people and numerous organisations gather to celebrate families and communities during National Families Week.
'Stronger Families, Stronger Communities' is the overarching theme. This subject emphasises the vital role that families play in our communities. Families are society's most fundamental units. They collaborate to help one another and form communities.

Family means different things to all of us, but above all else, family gives us a sense of belonging, connection, and community.

The week is about spending time with your family, interacting with your extended family and friends, and expressing gratitude to your entire family, friends, and local community.

You may be wondering how to commemorate National Families Week now that you understand its meaning and significance. A family BBQ or supper together, attending organised community events, visiting the park, or taking a family walk are all fantastic ways to celebrate. If you are in a position to do so, you might consider doing something with your family to help others, particularly those who are vulnerable.Cleaning up around the house and donating items that are no longer required, for example, or teaching children the importance of volunteering and giving back to our community.

Whatever way you choose to commemorate National Families Week this year, remember to respect your family and be generous with the time you spend with them.

From everyone at Key Assets, we wish you a wonderful National Families Week filled with laughter, trust, support, and, of course, love.

Across the week of Monday 16 to Friday 20 May, National Families Week will be hosting a 45 minute webinar at 1:00pm (AEST) each day – please join them as their speakers share insights on their own families, the importance of family, and how we can assist all families to prosper.
