As part of our commitment to reconciliation, Key Assets Australia is once again offering employees the opportunity to choose how they wish to recognise Australia Day. This is the third year Key Assets Australia has taken this action.
Through staff and community engagement, First Nations people have expressed to us how proud they are to be Australian but feel strongly that the 26 January holds a different meaning and significance to them. This marks the day the first white settlers arrive in Australia and thus the beginning of the decimation of culture and the oppression of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We need to join together as Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians to face the truth of our history and walk the path of reconciliation.
So Key Assets Australia will support our employees wishing to recognise an alternative holiday to 26 January.
One of the great things about Australia is our diversity, tolerance, and democratic right to an opinion and to freely and safely express our beliefs. We are proudly Australian, and we are committed to an Australia where everyone has a voice and the right to be heard.
