Trans Day of Visibility
On 31st March we acknowledge the beauty and the depth of our love for humans, no matter their gender or sexuality
On Transgender Day of Visibility, which falls on 31 March every year, we pause to remember the revolutionary act of our being as we celebrate the transgender, gender non-conforming, and nonbinary people we know and love. The day is dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of transgenders while raising awareness of the work that still needs to be done to achieve trans justice.
On this day, we acknowledge the beauty and the depth of our love for humans, no matter their gender or sexuality. We acknowledge those who love and accept the community. This is also a day to shake off any negative stigmas, and celebrate the humankind as a whole.
In addition to showing love and support for transgender people, the day is also devoted to recognising the history of transgender people and their achievements and raising awareness about issues that affect them, including discrimination.
There are many ways you can get involved, whether it be by attending educational events which would occur at school, workplaces, and the community, or listening to a transgender’s story and their struggles and acceptance in society.
This day is also a popular day for those that identify themselves as transgender to publicly identify as a transgender for the first time.
As we move to a more gender neutral and non-binary society, it is important to make your loved ones around you aware of the transgender community around us. Whether you have a foster child, or a foster parent that is in need of this education, this day would be the perfect opportunity to raise that awareness. Have a look at what your community is doing and how you can get involved in this progressive day.
