World Health Day

Lockdowns, social distancing, travel restrictions, and the constantly changing position we find ourselves in, is stressful

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging time for managing our social and emotional wellbeing. Lockdowns, social distancing, travel restrictions, and the constantly changing position we find ourselves in, is stressful. This makes prioritising our social and emotional wellbeing more important than ever.
On top of this, it has been challenging to maintain our physical health as well. With gyms closed, access to doctors and hospitals becoming more difficult, and diseases that have affected our health in a physical and immune way, some may think that World Health Day this year is more important than ever.

World Health Day focuses on the promotion, education and support for healthier living habits that contribute to increased life expectancy. Held on the 7th of April, it has become a collective action aimed at globally protecting human health and well-being.

Each year since 1995, the World Health Organisation has assigned a theme for World Health Day. Their intent was to prioritize an area of concern that would result in a greater emphasis and, hopefully, a more targeted outcome of the selected issue.

This year’s theme for World Health Day is The Critical Role of the Earth’s Environment in Our Health. Unfortunately, polluted air, water, and global warming impair the health of millions of people every year. By saving the planet, we will be safeguarding our own health, and this message needs to be spread.

Get involved this year by learning how the environment affects our health, and what small measures you can do as a family and a community to ensure that you are looking after your health along with the environment.
