Specialist Foster Carer - Rachel

Rachael understands that some children are unfortunately dealt a more difficult start to life than others.

After completing what she described to be an eye-opening training course in 2010, Rachael became a Foster Carer for Key Assets Australia.

She began her fostering journey as a respite carer, providing care to children on the weekends where she could simply have fun with them and allow them to feel like kids again.

From her experience she has understood how much of a positive impact she has had on their lives. Some children message her years later, thanking her for the time she spent with them.

During her time fostering, she has always valued the Key Assets Australia support group meetings where carers could discuss problems, offer advice and support each other through their individual journeys.

The ongoing training and Key Assets Australia therapist contacts were also a beneficial way to arm her with the tools and knowledge she needed in order to be an unwavering source of love and stability for her foster children.

At Key Assets Australia, our mission is to match foster children with their perfect carer so that they can feel safe and supported.

Key Assets Australia deeply honours and celebrates the rich and enduring cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, recognising them as the oldest continuing cultures in the world. We respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands and waters where we live and work. We recognise their profound spiritual connection to the land and pay heartfelt respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. We acknowledge the deep trauma, grief, and loss experienced by these communities, both historically and presently, and commit to walking alongside them in support and solidarity.

Key Assets Australia is a non-government, not for profit, non-religious, children, family and community services agency. Our purpose is to achieve positive and lasting outcomes for children, families, and communities.
